Therapy for Individuals

Relationships are the fabric of our lives, weaving all of our life experiences together. Bonds of every kind can be challenging, and sometimes leave us feeling rejected or afraid. Out of a desire for closeness, we can sometimes cower or lash out (without knowing why). Maybe you have been left wondering, “why did I just yell at them, when I just wanted them to listen to me?” or “Why did I ignore their texts, when I really was feeling like I wanted to talk to them more than anything?”

The answer to “why” can lie in what wounds we’ve experienced before. Experiences we have had can stack on top of each other and leave us feeling like a half-played Jenga tower, ready to collapse with one more touch. Where do we go from there? How to we rebuild resilience when it feels like the world is too much, and we’re out of blocks?

We’re ready for you, and we believe in you. When you choose to enter into therapy, you are making a choice for your self right now and all of those who are most important to you. Additionally, you’re taking care of parts of yourself that may not have been cared for like they needed. And you’re building resilience for your future self.

We practice from an attachment-based, emotion focused lens with individuals, most frequently using Emotion Focused Individual Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Brainspotting, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. Together, we will dive into the "unknown". We will explore your past experiences, learn how they impact your current circumstances, and discover how to shift problematic patterns into health and healing.

In therapy with individuals, our approach is to 1) focus on building the relationship between client and clinician, 2) identify the steps of these patterns and emotions involved, 3) understand where the patterns you are experiencing right now might come from, 4) slow the patterns down and 5) create intentional shifts in the patterns.
